The standard form for a line is Ax+By=C. Starting with 2x=y/3-4, we'd want to subtract y/3 on both sides. 2x-y/3=-4 is now closer to the standard form, but we don't want 3 in the denominator of the y term. Therefore, we'll multiply every term by 3 resulting in 6x-y=-12 which is now in standard form.
