Mrs. Williams is huge baseball fan. AShe surveyed the school and found 3 out of 10 students were Boston Red Sox fans, 3 out of 10 students were New York Yankee fans, and 2 out of 10 were Texas Rangers. What is the probability of randomly choosing 2 students names successively that are not yankee fans?

If 3 out of 10 are yankee fans that 7 out of 10 are not yeaknee fans

So odds that first pick will not be a yankee fan is 7/10

Since we have removed one name that is not a yankee fan we now have a total of 9 names 6 of which are not a yankee fan so the odds on the second pick are slkightly lower 6/9I

When we calculate the odds of 2 events both happening we multiple their probabilities

So answer is (7/10) x (6/9) = 42/90 = .467 or 7/15
