Acetaminophen is a drug that has antipyretic properties. It acts on the hypothalamus to drive down temperature. It is not an anti-inflammatory drug. It also has some moderate analgesic properties. The exact mechanism of acetaminophen is unknown, but it is thought that it may reduce the concentration of prostaglandins that act on the hypothalamus to produce an elevated body temperature.
