Is the angle the arrow is pointing to the pitch if this is the roof of a barn?
1 Expert Answer
We cannot see your diagram. However, know that the pitch of a roof is the same as the slope of the roof.
So the pitch is not so much the angle as the distance the roof rises every 12 inches.
For example a roof with a pitch of 3 - 12 is a roof that rises three inches for every twelve inches across.
You can use the tangent function to find the angle of elevation from horizontal.
tan x = rise / run
For a 3 -12 pitched roof,
tan x = 3/12 or .25.
Angle x then is approx. 14 degrees.
