I can only assume that you are speaking about a circle. After all a square and a rectangle both have a center!

Here is the left hand side of the equation for the circle: (x - the x-value of the center)² + (y- the y-value of the center)² = (x- -8)² + (y-4)² = (x+8)² + (y-4)².

The right hand side must be the radius squared. So we need to find r or r^2.

Now the distance between the center and any point on the circle is r.

The distance squared between (-8, 4) and (-4,2) is 4² + 2² = 20 =r².

(x+8)² + (y-4)² = 20
