So, let the equation of a parabola yield f(x) = a(x - h)2 + k, where the vertex is (h,k). Keep in mind that the negative in (x-h) is there by default as part of the formula. Then,
since the equation we have is y = 3(x + 5)2 - 4 = 3(x - (-5))2 + (-4), the vertex is (-5, -4)
