asked 03/03/19The office has a perimeter of 32ft and a length of feet .how much carpet will be needed to cover the floor of the office? My son is in forth grade and he is stumped

You are given the perimeter and apparently the length...
32 = 2*L + 2w
16 = L + w
w = 16 - L
So when you get the length, plug into that formula above in bold to get the width.
THEN the area is length times width....
For example, suppose your length is 10.
Then the width 16-10 = 6,
so the area is 10*6 = 60 square feet
