3 grade math word problem

A marches band in rows of 5.  Each row is 6 people.  Four people are holding flags.  How many people are in the marches band?

Let me retype the question ask. 
A band marches in rows of 5.  Each row has 6 people.  There are 4 people who carry flags.  How many people are in the marching band?

OK, that's how I interpreted it. 5 rows* 6 people per row = 30 people.  If the flag bearers are additional (not part of the 30 people), then the answer is 30 people + 4 flag bearers = 34 people in the band.

I through the people who are carry the flags are included from 30 people in the band marches.  The problem just give extra information so we don't need it.
