How do you get 3/4 times 12x -8 equals to -72

3/4(12x-8)=-72 because I really don’t understand how to get -72 to solved this answer if there is more than one answer to this question

9x - 6 = -72

9x = -66

x = -66/9 = -22/3 = -7 1/3
