A hats price rose from $9.99 to 12.99 what was the percent of change rounded to the nearest percent

I am doing percent of change and got stuck on this question can someone help Im having trouble understaning the steps

Sabrina, percent of change is simple.  There are two ways to do it.

 

difference/original x 100 or difference/original = percent/100

 

3/9.99 x 100 = ?  

 

Or, 3/9.99 = p/100.  Cross multiply to get 9.99p = 300, so p = 300/9.99 = ?

 

I think you can find the answer either way!
