price=$26,470.00
discount=14%
$26,470.00*0.14=$3705.80 discount
$26,470.00-$3,705.80=$22,764.20 before the tax
$22,764.20*0.085=$1,934.96 tax
$22,764.20+$1,934.96=$24,699.16 total price of the car

Hi Aisha,
First find out what 14% of $26,470 is and subtract it from the original price.
Then using the above answer find what 8.5% of that number is and add it to the discounted price
Here is an example with different numbers.
originally price 10,000
discounted by 5%
7% sales tax
The discounted price will be 10,000-(10,000 x 0.05)= $9,500.
Now sales tax must be added so 9,500 + (9,500 x 0.07) = $10,165
