Why is it that sin(1/2) does not equal to sin(2/4)??

Also why is does sin(1/2) not equal to sin(0.5)??

I don't understand why these give different value when 1/2 = 2/4 and 1/2 = 0,5

Why do these give different values??

Oops! my bad! I didn't use parenthesis correctly.... I was doing sin(2)/4 and sin(1)/2 instead of sin(2/4) and sin(1/2)

The complicated answer is that the sin function is NOT a linear function. (1/2) sin 1 means 1/2 of the numerical value of the sin of 1 radian which is .420735. (1/4) sin 2 means 1/4 of the numerical value of the sin of 2 radians which is .227324. Lastly sin(.5) = the numerical value of the sin of 1/2 of a radian which is .479426. I hope that helps, but I suspect you are hung up elsewhere. If so, please let me know.
