Normally an equation is written as f(x)=.......In this case, x=-8, so in the equation where ever there is an x you would put in the -8 and solve it: f(x)=x2+6x-2
f(-8)=(-8)2+6(-8)-2
f(-8)=64-48-2
f(-8)=14
