Side C of the triangle is 6 m longer than Side A. Side B is 8 m shorter than Side A. The perimeter is 52 m. Find the length of each of the three sides.

Here's what we know:

a + b + c = 52

c = a + 6

b = a - 8

 

Now that we have our values, we can put them in:

a + (a - 8) + (a + 6) = 52

Now we combine our like terms:

3a - 2 = 52

add two to each side:

3a = 54

divide both sides by 3:

a = 18 meters

 

Now that we have a, we can solve for b & c:

b = 18 - 8

b = 10 meters

c = 18 + 6

c = 24 meters

 

Now to check our answer:

18 + 10 +24 = 52

52 = 52
