direct variation means that when x increases, for example, then, so does y.
This looks like:
x/y = k, where k is a constant.
For example, if k = 20, then, x/y could be 40/2. If x increases to 80, then y will increase to 4. The same is true for decreasing.
What is a partial variation?
A relationship between two variables in which one variable is a constant multiple of the other plus a constant value. Graph DOES NOT pass through the origin. Represented by y=mx+b form
