A storage tank for propane gas is to be constructed in the shape of a right circular cylinder of altitude 30 feet with a hemisphere attached to each end.

Determine the radius x so that the resulting volume is 306π ft3.

Isn't this (4*pi*x^2) an area of sphere? but pi*(x^2)*30 is a volume.  Area & volume cannot be added.  Radius is 3 ft but the work isn't.

volume of sphere is: (4/3) * pi * r3.

There is a hemisphere also attached to each end.
This is to be included in the volume.
