One way to graph an equation is to plot a few points on the graph. Since this is a linear equation, its graph is a straight line, and all you need to draw a line is two points. Pick a value of x, say 1, and plug it into the y equation to find the corresponding y value:
y = -6x + 1
y = -6*1 + 1 {plugged in x=1}
y = -6 + 1
y = -5
So one point is (1, -5) {Remember, (1,-5) is an ordered pair: (x=1,y=-5)}
Pick a few other points, say x = 0 and x = 1. Compute the y-value for each x value, and plot the points on an xy graph, then draw the line that goes through them.

Can one of the coordinates be (-1,7)? Khan academy says yes but I say no.11/29/18
