Britt, we are doing the opposite of FOIL. If we factor, we get (2x+5)(x+1)=0.
Now, in order for the entire thing to equal 0, then one or both of what's on the left have to equal zero, right? 0 times something is 0, something times 0 is 0, and 0 times 0 is 0.
So, we have to take each part and set it equal to 0.
2x+5 = 0 and x+1=0.
You should be able to solve both for x. Both are your answers.
