A ball is thrown straight up with an initial speed of 60 m/s. Assume the acceleration of gravity is 10m/s².

Find the time it takes to reach maximum height, and then double it.  That will be the total time of flight.  Since the speed is instantaneously zero at maximum height,

 

v₀ - gt = 0

 

t = v₀/g

 

Total time in air is 2v₀/g.

 

v₀ = 60 m/s

g ≅ 10 m/s²
