if the base of 5^2 is increased by 20% then how much percent will increase in the value

2 ways to see this:

 

5 * 1.2 = 6 

6² = 36

36/25 = 1.44 i.e. 44%

 

or

 

[5*(1.2)]² = 25 * 1.44, i.e. a 44% increase.
