Two math word problems, help!

Question

A fishing boat anchor requires 10 3/8 pounds of steel. How many anchors can be manufactured from 3,980 pounds of steel (round to the nearest saleable anchor – no partial anchors will pass quality control)?

 

 

The court ordered ABC Corp to repay $7.5 million to its customers for overcharging them on interest rates. If 650,000 customers were overcharged, then how much will the average customer receive in a rebate?

 

Answer 1

3980 lbs/ 10.375 lbs per anchor  = 383 .61 anchors, so, 383 can be made.

 

7,500,000 dollars/650,000 customers = 7,500/650 = 750/65 = 150/13 = $11.54 each
