You should find your notes and/or textbook or can do a search on Marco Polo. He grew up in a family of traders from Venice, and traveled to the Far East. An obituary is a short passage that describes a person's life. You should include his dates of birth and death, and a description of his travels in the Middle East and China. Marco traveled with his father and uncle to the court of the great Mongol empire. Find the name of the great emperor who he met. Marco stayed there many years, then eventually returned to Venice and wrote a famous book (find the title) about his travels. This was the first glimpse that the Europeans had into the great cultures of the East. For your focus question, review your information about Polo and now think about what he accomplished. Your question should be something like, "What was Marco Polo's great accomplishment?" or "What was Marco Polo's effect on Europe after he published his book?" This question is then the focus of your obituary, which will describe the most important parts of Polo's life, what he did, where he went, and what he wrote about it.
