I'm trying to figure out how many of a certain object with fit into a box.

Question

I'm trying to figure out how many Reese's peanut butter cups will fit inside a box. I have the dimensions for the Reese cups and the dimensions for the box. But I'm not sure how to go about determining the answer. 

 

Reese cup dimensions - Diameter - 2.25 inches, height - 0.75 inches, weight - 1.4 ounces 

 

Box dimensions - length - 18.9 inches, width - 12.4 inches, depth - 9 inches.

18.9 / 2.25 = 8.4 Round down to 8

12.4 / 2.25 = 5.111.... round down to 5

9 / .75 = 12

 

So you essentially have 5 columns 8 Reese's each, and you can stack them 12 high. Multiply 5 by 8 by 12 to get your final answer.
