Hi Frieda,
"four less than" means you must subtract 4 from whatever they say next.
"three times a number" is 3x (if x is the number)
So four less than 3 times a number is 3x-4
And for it to be less than twenty-five, you need
3x - 4 < 25
Now just solve it like you would a regular equation, only now you have an inequality.
Add 4 to both sides.
3x < 29
Divide both sides by 3
x < 29/3
