A number of hockey players are standing in a circle. They are evenly spaced and the fourth players is directly opposite the ninth player. How many hockey players are there altogether.

Draw a picture with the number 4 opposite the number 9.  Between 4 and 9 are 5, 6, 7, and 8.  Between 9 and 4 are 10, 1, 2, 3.

 

Therefore , there are ten hockey players.
