Question

A town's population has been growing linearly since 2000. In 2004 the population was 46800. In 2007 the population was 51900.

Give the formula for the function P(t), the population t years after 2000.

slope is (51900-46800)/(7-4)

 

            = 5100/3 

 

           = 1700

 

 

 B = y  - mx = 46800 - (1700)(4) =

                       46800 - 6800 =

                       40000

 

y = 1700x + 40000
