I'm not sure if you can visualize 3 space properly yet. Most teachers use the lower left corner of a room to explain the axes. The x axis comes towards you, the y axis crosses in front of you and the z axis goes up and down. So a point like (4,5,6) comes towards you by 4, crosses to the right by 5 and then goes up by 6. If you wanted to find out how far this is from the x axis, I suggest you visualize this and ask the question each time you move. So starting from the origin, you moved 4 towards me but you're still on the x axis so the answer to your question is 0. then you move 5 to the right....so you're 5 away from the x axis. Then you move 6 up. Well now you've formed a triangle to answer the question. You went 5 to the right and 6 up....so just use the Pythagorean theorem and you get sqrt 61 as your answer. Sede what I'm getting at?
So your problem moved 2m along the xa axis so it's 0 away from the x axis. then 3m to the right, so that it is now 3m away from the x axis, and then 4m up, forming a right triangle having legs 3m and 4m. Use the Pythagorean theorem and get your answer of 5m.
