The slope intercept form is y = mx + b Where m = slope and b is the y-intercept
If the x-intercept is -6, then the point (-6, 0) is on the line. Since we now have 2 points on the line, we can now find the slope. m = (change in y)/(change in x) = (6-0)/(-2+6) = 3/2
So now we have y = (3/2)x + b
Now we can substitute one of the points to get the y -intercept:
Lets use (-6, 0):
y = (3/2)x + b = (3/2)(-6) + b = 0
-9 + b =0
b = 9
So our equation is:
y = (3/2)x + 9
