Hi, Diksha!
Ok. Judy needs 8 pounds of chicken. We need to find out how many 3/4 pounds are in 8 pounds. Therefore, we need to divide 8 by 3/4.
To do this we write 8 ÷ 3/4.
To divide by a fraction, we just multiply by its inverse.
So 8 ÷ 3/4 = 8 x 4/3 = 32/3
32/3 = 10 2/3 packages.
Since Judy can't buy 2/3 of a package, she will have to buy 11 packages of chicken.
Now we can check our answer:
11 x 3/4 = 33/4 = 8 1/4 pounds and that sounds right.
