Ok. So let's call the number of white shirts sold = X
and the number of yellow ones sold =(18-X)
So then we write the equation:
11.95X + 12.50(18-X) = 222.25
11.95X + 225 -12.50X = 222.25
2.75 = .55X
X = 5
So 5 white shirts and (18-5) = 13 yellow shirts
Check your answer:
11.95x5 + 12.50x13 = 222.25
