the perimeter of a rectangular field is 380 yd. The length is 90 yd longer than the width. find the dimensions ? 

 The smaller of the two sides is ? yd 

 

 

The larger of the two sides is ? yd

The perimeter is equal to (2 x length) + (2 x width)

In this case the total perimeter is 380 yards.

Also, the length L is 90 yds longer than the width W

so:          L = W + 90

So, put this into our formula for perimeter:

P = 2(W + 90) + 2W = 380

P = 180 + 2W +2W = 380

4W = 200

W = 50 yd.

L = 50 + 90 = 140 yd.
