need help with value of x and degrees in an angle

Question

ABC = 10x - 8
DEF = 2x + 22
What is the value of X?
How many degrees are in angle ABC?

If someone could also explain this to me it would be great

Well if they are equal then 10x-8 = 2x + 22

                                      8x = 30

                                         x = 30/8 = 15/4

 

If they are supplementary then 10x-8 + 2x + 22 = 180

                                        12x - 14 = 180

                                         12x = 194

                                           x = 16 and 1/6

 

If they are complementary then 10x - 8 + 2x + 22 = 90

                                                 12x - 14 = 90

                                                  12x = 104

                                                     x = 104/12 = 52/6 = 25/3
