Let's let the miles drive the first car equation x.

 

Then the miles driven by the second car would be equation to 1900-x.

 

The gas consumed by the first car would be x/35.  The gas consumed by the second car would be (1900-x)/25.  

 

Combine the two, to get this equation.

 

x/35 + (1900-x)/25 = 60.
