asked 06/04/18At the opening kickoff a football is kicked at 35 m/s at 40° to the ground. How far did the football travel?
I worked it out by first using ∆t =(2v_1 sinθ)/a to find time, then v_H = v_1 cosθ to find horizontal velocity, and then finally d_H = v_H ∆t to find the horizontal distance. The answer i got was 123 m. But apparently the correct answer is 40 m. And i don't understand how.

Based on that information, you're right. It would've traveled 123 meters.
In order to only go 40 m the angle would have to be about 9.5°
