X - 6 = 2(33 - X +6) X - 6 = 66 - 2X + 12 X - 6 = 78 - 2X +2X +2X 3X - 6 = 78 +6 +6 3X = 84 /3 /3 X = 28 So the first boy had 28 before, and his buddy had 33 - 28 = 5 Afterward, the first boy had 28 - 6 = 22 and his friend had 5 + 6 = 11 Sorry it's so tough to read! I accidentally sent it before I was done, and when you edit, it's much tougher to create line breaks and such
