jovi is laying a foundation for a garage with dimensions 10 m by 6 m. to check the foundation is square, jovi meaurrs a diagonal. how long should the diagonal be?

The diagonal would be the hypotenuse of a triangle whose legs are the dimensions given.  So put those into the Pythagorean Theorem:

 

c² = a² + b²

c² = 10² + 6²

c² = 100 + 36

c² = 136

c = √136

c = 11.66

 

So the diagonal should be 11.66 m.

How can the foundation be square when the problem states the dimensions of a rectangle?  The diagonal of the rectangle is
