Does it matter which quadrant the line is in it is in ? which coordinates on line is considered the y2-y1/x2-x1

m = (y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁) = (-1/-1)(y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁) = (y₁ - y₂)/(x₁ - x₂)

 

The order of subtraction does not matter as long as it is the same in both numerator and the denominator.
