Rewrite the first equation , wherever you see and X, you write 3, and wherever you see y write 4.
Then calculate the result to see if it matches the right side.
Do the same for second equation.
So if you plug in X=3 and Y=4, it should give the same number on the right side of each equation.
For EXAMPLE.
3x + 2y = 17
x + y = 7
has solution (3,4)
BECAUSE
3(3) +2(4) = 9 + 8 = 17 <---- first equation checks
3 + 4 = 7 <--- second equation checks
