16a - 12 + 2 = 10 * 15
A number (a) is multiplied by 16, and then take way 12, and that number is 2 less (so we add 2 to it to even it back out, or you can subtract 2 to the other side, whichever way you feel more comfortable) than the product (aka multiplying) 10 and 15.
Multiply 10 and 15:
16a - 12 + 2 = 150
Add 2:
16a - 10 = 150
Add 10 to both sides:
16a = 160
Divide both sides by 16, and you'll have your final answer.
