whenever you see the word “per”, it means “divided by”.

 

so, since you’re asked to compute “price per ounce”, you need to divid price by ounces.

 

so for cornflakes, the small box

$1.79 / 30 = ?

for the big box, we know the weight is 3 pounds, but we need to convert 3 pounds to ounces. Then we’ll put that number of ounces in the denominator.

$1.87 / (ounces in 3 pounds) = ?

 

Calculate those divisions. Which one is larger? How much larger? That’s the answer to the question.
