At least 2 attacks by the British come to mind. During the Spanish colonial era, British forces attacked San Juan (in Puerto Rico). One raid was led by Sir Francis Drake, when he tried to enter San Juan harbor. There was a British landing in Puerto Rico near the time of the American war of independence. Both attacks failed. I vaguely recall from a history course (40+ years ago!) about some other attacks in Puerto Rico by other enemies of Spain.
Your best source of information would be a book on the colonial history of Puerto Rico.
