passes thru (6,4) with x-intercept of 2:
Given the x-intercept we know the point (2, 0) is on the graph
We actually have 2 points... (6,4), (2,0)
From this we need to find the slope: m = (change in y)/(change in x)
m = (0-4)/(2-6) = -4/(-4) = 1
Point slope: y - y1 = m(x-x1) ...
m = 1
for (x1, y1) we can use either point. Let's use (2, 0)
y-0 = 1(x-2)
y = x - 2
Given the points we were working with you will note that the point slope
form and the slope intercept coincide as the same basic equation.
