If the voltage V in an electric circuit is held constant, the current I is inversely proportional to the resistance R . If the current is 60 amperes when the resistance is 204 ohms, find the current when the resistance is 120 ohms.

From I = V/R, obtain V = IR equal to (60 Amperes) times (204 Ohms), which in turn is given as equal to

(I_{120 Ohms} Amperes) times (120 Ohms).

(I_{120 Ohms} Amperes) is then calculated by (60 Amperes) times (204 Ohms) divided by (120 Ohms) which comes to 102 Amperes.

Note that both (60 Amperes) times (204 Ohms) and (102 Amperes) times (120 Ohms) will equal 12240 Volts as the constant voltage.
