  1. The PURPOSE of using a map is to determine information needed when planning to go from point A to point B; a map can give you distance and direction and road numbers, and depict the general region (mountains over which to go, for example).
2.  Maps preceded Apps by several centuries, and many of us prefer the former to the latter.
