Hi, it's an emergency exam is in 3 hours! How does one isolate the x from the following equation? y=a(1+x)^n the answer is x= [ (y/a)^(1/n) ] -1 , I don't know the steps to get there

y = a(1 + x)n
Divide both sides by a.
y/a = (1 + x)n
Take 1/n power of both sides.
(y/a)1/n = 1 + x
Subtract 1 from both sides.
(y/a)1/n - 1 = x
You are done.

y = a(1+x)n
divide both sides by a
y/a = (1 + x)n
Take nth root of both sides
n√(y/a) = 1 + x
Subtract 1 from both sides
n√(y/a) - 1 = x
Note that n√(y/a) = (y/a)1/n so
x = (y/a)1/n - 1
