Angels are considered spiritual or divine beings, so literally speaking, there is no temperature too cold for such a being (if you believe in them) to fly.
In the song A Team, Ed Sheeran sings about a woman who is addicted to drugs and sells her body to pay for rent. Lifer for her seems a cold hard reality. While the true meaning of the lyric will only be know to Mr. Sheerhan, we can speculate on what it may mean:
- a reference to the cold bitter reality of this woman's life
- this woman lives in a bad part of town where there are no "angels" (people who care and want to help)
- she is ignored by the average person and treated poorly by her customers causing most human contact she has to feel cold, distant, aloof (not warm and comforting)
- things are so bad (for her, in the ares where she lives, in general, for humanity, or whatever) that it is so far from the "warmth of heaven" that angels can not fly to where she is
- she herself is an angel trapped in a woman's body, isolated for the "love and warmth of heaven" and experiencing the cold-hearted nature of humanity, and she doesn't feel like she can face that anymore
