Patient, easily-understood Math Instructor
Ratios are nice in that they tell you exactly what they want. They want the ratio of length to width, so you put length / width and reduce if you can. You do not want to do the division and get one number, you want to keep to numbers. 36/12 and reduce, but leave numbers on top and bottom. If , for example, it was 28/4 the answer would be 7/1.
