The average speed is essentially how much progress you made over a period of time, counting all the various changes of pace.
Lets parse out the bike ride:
3 hours at 10 miles per hour means you've traveled 30 miles
Now for the walk:
1 hour at 2 miles an hour means you walked 2 miles.
Adding the miles up gives us 32 miles traveled.
Adding the hours up gives us 4 hours of travelling.
That means we have 32 miles/4 hours. Complete that problem and you have your average mph.
