Let x = the width
Let x + 5 = the length
Equation/Formula for Perimeter:
2(L) + 2(W) = P
Therefore:
2(x+5) + 2(x) = 18
2x + 10 + 2x = 18
Simplify:
4x + 10 = 18
4x = 8
x = 2
x + 5 = 7
Proof your work:
Does 2(2) + 2 (7) equal 18
4 + 14 = 18 Yep, it sure does.
