PEMDAS dictates that it be interpreted as if 6 - (6/11)(1/12) = 6 - 1/22 = mixed number 5 21/22 or about 5.9545... in decimal form.
The sixes cannot be subtracted because the second one needs to be divided by 11 first, and then that quotient must be MULTIPLIED BY the reciprocal of 12, and then finally you have a funky number to subtract from the initial six.
Note that the division process represented by 6/11 is done, at once, because the ensuing division (÷12) is on an equal footing with that earlier division, and so Left to Right precedence is required.
